When on vacation and we find a restaurant we really like we tend to go several times. This was the case at Jodie's Cafe. It was their grand opening weekend and the staff could not have been more accommodating! We ate breakfast there twice and dinner once and had wonderful meals every time. The dining room was comfortable with nice views over the water. Sausage gravy with biscuits is a favorite and theirs did not disappoint! Dinner was excellent - shrimp and grits - a little spicy for me, but should not have surprised me as I know how it's made. Despite the heat, everything was cooked perfectly. Perhaps the absolute best thing I ate anywhere that weekend was the corned beef hash burrito. The corned beef is house-made and absolutely delicious. The burrito was stuffed with this and cubed hash browns with peppers and onions, cheddar cheese and scrambled eggs. The whole burrito was lightly fried and not at all greasy and I could eat another one right now! The bakery case had many scrumptious looking items and we tried the peach pie and blueberry crumble pies. Yum! I highly recommend Jodie's.
We had breakfast here yesterday morning. We had a bit of a wait for a table, maybe 20 minutes or so but it was pleasant to wait. We were seated in the dining area on the outside wall with nice views of the river. Our young server was sweet and helpful and as prompt as she could be given the number of tables she was running. I ordered a juice and was shocked at the size, at least 12 ounces of juice with no ice (yay) was served! I had two eggs poached with sausage and they were very good. It was served with hash browns that were made with onions and red peppers, a nice addition.
Come on a Sunday for the Brunch Specials. Our amazing server Anna was very helpful with recommendations and the best expresso coffee we had in our trip. Get the lobster benedict, 6 onz of yummy lobster with the perfect hollandaise! Home fries are delish.
Stopped here on a whim before going to Booth Bay for the Gardens Aglow in Booth Bay. Initial thoughts on it were "Eh, small town cafe. Nothing special" I was very mistaken. Older lady with a southern accent greeted us as we entered (later found out it was the owner) Food wasn't typical Mainer food. It was more south eastern US. I was sceptical on how good the grits were but was convinced to order them anyways. My girlfriend ordered the fish and chips. The shrimp and grits were excellent and from what I could tell, the fish and chips were fried to perfection. Jodie (owner) stopped by multiple times to ask how everything was and the only complaint I had was that my eyes were bigger then my stomach. Having not had well made grits in a very long time, I promptly ordered their Shrimp and grits dish to go (which I'm happily eating for breakfast as I write this review) Jodie mentioned that they do a Georgia style peach cobbler in the summer with actual Georgia peaches and I promptly vowed that we would be back in the summer to try it. I had such a wonderful experience, and enjoyed the food and service so much that I left a hefty tip and bought the cooks a round of beer. I can not wait to return and will recommend it to any southerners that visit the area.
We had a lovely ride over. I had LaGuardia chicken sandwich so yummy but a bit spicy for me. Grandson had kids Mac chz and chicken fingers that was phenomenal!!!! Our server Priscilla was polite, efficient, and helpful with menu items.
Sept 2022: On a week long trip we went to Jodie’s for breakfast 2x. The staff is so friendly, the food is delicious, and what’s not to love about a pride flag out front? Any future trips to mid-coastal Maine will include visits to Jodie’s! Highly recommend. June 2024: Happy to report Jodie’s is still delicious! Friendly staff, great prices, and we love the new location. My husband had the Irish Benedict, I had the breakfast sandwich and my parents enjoyed the egg plate. We will be back :).
We enjoyed Jodis 100%. We had the chocolate twist which was amazing. Recommend highly. I had the breakfast bowl and it was delicious. Bacon was crisp, grits were delicious and sausage gravy was yummy. The hub had a breakfast sandwich with the homemade English with sausage which he thought was a little dry but still delicious. We give Jodis 2 thumbs up!
We're locals, so we came by in mid-March and we're seated right away. The LaGuardia sandwich was excellent. Lots of great flavors. Friendly and prompt service and a great view of the river.
