really outstanding food options for breakfast and lunch. highly recommend to stop by everyday if you are driving by or lodging in Big Sur. friendly staff, quick for food to arrive to table hot and flavorful. we also did to go orders to enjoy a meal at our cabin and also on the road to daily hikes. also really delicious espresso lattes! this is my favorite cafe in Big Sur.

Best brunch in the area. Service was immaculate, very friendly staff. Atmosphere was very nice with a beautiful garden outside with an orange tree.

I was very happy with my experience! We were initially heading to the Fernwood Tavern because they offered vegan options but they were closed, so the nearest open place was this cute restaurant! The staff is so warm and friendly, they didn’t speak a lot asking superficial questions but you could feel it in their warm smiles and kind looks/eyes. I said that I’m vegan and what can I have for breakfast and was offered an avocado toast and sautéed veggies without eggs. I know, the veggies from the veggie omelette without eggs don’t sound very exciting but I didn’t have much choice but let me tell you - they did everything from the bottom of their heart, or they are just very good with cooking. Veggies were caramelized and very flavorful — my non-vegan friend was enjoying them too. My grapefruit juice was delicious too. I left satisfied and happy. The interior is very cute and warm and cozy. They have beautiful art of Big Sur on the walls made in Vang Gogh style with long strokes. Apparently, it’s the owners friend who passed away gifted to him - such a nice sentiment. Sorry I didn’t make many pictures but I do suggest to check out this place with nice people who work there.

If you are tired of the Big Sur focused on overly expensive brunches trying to re-invent the concept, this place is your answer! A traditional breakfast/lunch venue with good portions and the standard options with the expected California twist of Mexico if you want. Potato gratin as a side, pancakes with or without nuts, omelettes, breakfast burritos, and huevos rancheros... All great, and recommended.

I waited outside and watched the jays and hummingbirds flutter around their garden patio until they opened at 8am. I was the first to be greeted and kindly invited in to sit anywhere. Staff were very friendly and attentive. I got the eggs and chorizo with fresh corn tortillas and everything was great. I love when the meat is diced and mixed into any egg dish, and this was done so perfectly. The coffee (black) was good and they always offered refills and then a to-go cup when I hadn’t finished my last cup. I also got a veggie and egg scramble with hash browns and a muffin to-go, which came out fast and hot. I may come back here again tomorrow!

A cozy Big Sur gem that feels like stepping back in time. Ripplewood Cottages, with its charming grocery and rustic restaurant, is the perfect stop for anyone traveling along Highway 1. The food is hearty and homemade — the kind that tastes even better after a morning of exploring redwoods or coastal trails. The little grocery is well-stocked with essentials and local favorites, and the setting under towering redwoods adds to the peaceful, nostalgic atmosphere. Whether you’re staying in one of the classic cabins or just stopping for a meal, Ripplewood captures the simple, authentic spirit of Big Sur living.
