The smoky smell coming from this restaurant permeates this plaza! We finally decided to give it a try. This was our first time trying Senegalese food. The interior was what I expected—a bit messy, handwritten flyers on the wall, no sense of ambiance, but no major red flags that would deter us from eating here. The lady at the counter was very kind, pretty helpful and gave us the option to order a family-style pan. We started with the beef patties and they were very good. We ordered a pan of lamb, jollof rice and plantain. The lamb had a wonderful smoky smell and flavor. The lamb portion lasted us for about three different meals over three days. The lamb was overcooked and a bit tough, though. We ended up stewing it in beef broth which re-tenderized the meat. Overall, we would go back again.
I came here on Sunday for the first time. They were busy and had a line but the young lady in blue taking orders was so so nice and professional. She kept the line moving and she kept thanking everyone for being patient. The food was DELICIOUS!!! Real authentic Senegalese food!!!!!!! I will definitely be back when I’m in town again! Everything was seasoned to perfection!!!! They did not miss on the food!!!! 100/10 must try!
One word: amazing. The grilled lamb is savory, tender, and just the right amount of spicy. The jollof rice was so good my 10-month-old kept going back fore more even though it was spicy. The staff were simply wonderful, friendly and engaging. Two adults ate their fill and took a little home off one order of lamb and jollof rice. I will DEFINITELY be back.
Im a trucker running loads for the Kroger store next door. It was late after hours and two guys were preparing BBQ meats for the next day. The smoke was thick and the cooking meat smelled fantastic! I stuck my head over the wood fence to compliment them on their preparation and was very kindly offered a small sample of their lamb, chicken and beef. OUTSTANDING! The flavors were heavy with smoke and just enough spiciness to make your lips tingle but not overpowering at all! Hope to visit during their normal hours and try a full meal! Thanks for the samples!!
Had the empanadas beef they were delicious with side of a spicy tomato sauce. The dibi lamb was ok, a little dry/tough but this has been my experience with most restaurants. Rice with onion sauce was good. Sorrel/Bissop was delicious. Would go again
Tasty and authentic Senegalese cuisine. Historical French influences and West African ingredients makes this restaurant unique from other African offerings around Columbus. The dishes will all be spicy so choose wisely. The only down side is the distance south of Columbus, but its well worth the trip for dishes you can't get anywhere else locally.
Let me preface I have never had Senegalese food before. This food was beyond tasteful. During my 3 day stay, I visited this establishment twice. I ordered the #2 both times on the wall menu which I believe is called Thiebou guinar (Cheh-boo ghee-Nar). Second time I added the dessert with my main dish which was called a beignet I believe, not like the New Orleans kind. It was more like a deep fried sweet bread. Anyways if you’ve never had this sort of food, I’d try this as a starter as the main ingredients are chicken and rice. The depth of flavor is what will impress! I will try to find Senegalese food in my area now that I have tried this place. Oh PS, watch out for that scotch bonnet cause it’s not for the faint hearted
First time visitor. The cashier was helpful. The presentation of the food was on point. The only issue was the temperature. The food was cold...literally. I didn't expect that at all. Once I arrived home, which is only 5 minutes from this establishment I had to heat the food...I didn't appreciate it, I want my food hot so I can enjoy it right then and there. The food was tasty, flavorful. I would give this establishment another try. Hopefully the next time the food will be hot.
