Decent food at reasonable prices. Clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl was yummy. It’s a little more peppery than your average chowder, which was just right for me, but the clams and potatoes are chopped much smaller than I would have preferred, deducting from the texture and chewing experience found in a more hearty clam chowder. My lunch combo came with a small cup of shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were small and mushy—nothing like you’d get as an appetizer at a higher end restaurant—but the flavor profile was acceptable. And at right around $13, I walked out very satisfied, along with a good portion of the bread bowl leftovers that I’ll surely scoff down sooner than later. I’ll be returning again very soon to try out other items on the menu. Particularly interested in checking out their crab options and oysters on the half shell. One more thing… would have totally preferred real silverware to the plastic fork and spoon. A plastic spoon can’t carve up the soggy bread bowl interior like a good old fashioned metal spoon. That is all.
My favorite local spot for clam chowder and a dungeness crab sandwich. Friendly owners and staff provide thoughtful recommendstions, the seafood is always fresh. Their prices are very affordable and then atmosphere is very cozy. I just wish this was closer to my house in Oakland -- totally worth the drive for both the food and the experience.
Such a cute and cozy restaurant with absolutely amazing food. I ordered the dungeness crab sandwich with clam chowder and while it was on the pricey side, it was the best i’ve ever had. I will definitely be coming back again
My favorite is the crab sandwich. It's full of real jumbo lump crab and the flavor of the sandwich is absolutely delicious. I have been going there for about three years now.And I have never been disappointed. You have to watch out for a few little shell pieces in the crab mix, but I've never found it to be a problem. You get the sandwich plus a mini bag of chips for about $20. Given that this is real crab and how delicious it tastes, I'm willing to pay the price to indulge.
The gentlemen were very nice and inviting.. next time I hope I have the time to eat in and enjoy... Got a hot pastrami sandwich which is killer!!!! They were nice enough to give me a Lil portion cup of there clam chowder to try... yes I will be back maybe even tomorrow! The sample of the chowder was also fantastic not to mention with it being so rainy and I was on foot it really hit the spot.. Thank you
Great food and great people. I loved the whole experience with this place. San Francisco feel and food without the San Francisco prices. I had the liverworst and roast beef on rye. So freaking good. And I'm so glad I chose the chili. Some of the best chili I've ever had. I will return and I will get the calamari and soup with bread bowl. Super friendly lady working the counter.
Old school diner. Reminds me so much of Eisenberg's in Manhattan (IYKYK). No frills sandwich shop, serving delicious, simple sandwiches, with quality ingredients. I had the hot crab melt sandwich. I highly recommend it. The clam chowder was also really good. I prefer hot sandwiches, but their crab salad on the croissant looked so good, I would try that next time. It’s really a special little shop that is a gem in today’s world.
I was doing a job in this area and decided to eat local food and not chain. The service was wonderful and the 2 items i had was so delicious. The clam chowder in a bread bowl was so good with the bread and crackers. I also had the hot pastrami sandwich which was doubly good. Great food keep it up.
