First time here prices are decent. Food is real home cooked meals . Just like eating at grandmas house.

Our first time ever eating there had seen it before, but never stopped but when we went in the atmosphere was very nice. People were very friendly. Oh my goodness the food was so good. I had fried chicken. My husband had the fried chicken livers when I tell you the okra, my goodness it’s just like my mama used to cook it. I’ve thoroughly recommend this restaurant. Anybody wants some soul home cooked food you, need to make your way there we loved it.

Food was really good. Seasoned well. I had turkey necks, collard greens, and yams. Came with cornbread or roll and tea or lemonade.

My husband and I love it here. The food is amazing. I get fried okra and fried green tomato’s and my husband gets a hotdog all the way with delicious onion rings. It is located on Union street Spartanburg. Highly recommended!

Let me start off by saying the service was excellent! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The food was amazing. Everything came out perfectly cooked and seasoned. If you want good southern cooking this is the place to go!

John and Glenda catered my daughter's wedding last weekend. They catered a full out taco bar. The entire experience went beyond smoothly. Great service, punctuality and presentation! Oh! The food. The food was absolutely amazing!!! If you are in the neighborhood, visit their restaurant also for lunch or Sunday dinner! You will nit be disappointed!!! Thank you guys so much!!!

We went for the first time to have lunch at J & G Family Restaurant and Catering in Spartanburg. We buy fresh fish and seafood next door frequently and always saw people happily carrying out food out of this restaurant. The reviews were good so I thought we’d give them a try. Betty took our order, we sat down and our food soon arrived. Chef Johnny Foster, owner and Chef came out to welcome us to his restaurant. He told us how he got his start worked as a dishwasher at the restaurant 30 years ago and worked his way up to became the chef and owner. Nice, welcoming and very impressive gentleman! What also was impressive was his food. I ordered the fried chicken breast, mashed potatoes, Mac n Cheese and green beans. (We wanted to sample as much as we could). My husband ordered the hamburger steak with sautéed onions, Gravy, corn, fried okra . It was so delicious. The fried chicken was very moist and the skin was so crispy and flavorful. Best fried chicken I ever had. The fried okra was to die for! The mashed potatoes were so delicious, I don’t usually order gravy but I’m glad I did. I could not get enough of this one. Oh my it was good! The Mac n Cheese was loaded with oooey gooey incredible cheese it should be called Cheese n Mac! My husband loved his Hamburger Steak with just the right amount of flavorful gravy. Fabulous home style, soul food cooking at its very best. Chef Johnny knows what to do and he does it right. Everyone who came into the restaurant was so nice and welcoming. We enjoyed it. We loved meeting Chef Johnny and Betty. We didn’t get the name of the other staff we saw. We didn’t get a chance to meet Glenda. You become instant family when you dine at J & G Family Restaurant. I could envision us all sitting down together at a table, enjoying great food and conversation together. Highly recommend. It’s done right! Order extra mashed potatoes and gravy and tell them Barbara sent you! Mmmmm good!

zOMG. Stop what you are doing. Check the time and date, and see if this place is open. If so, just trust me, run on down. If not, plan your visit. Seriously. Put it on your calendar right now. Coz if you haven't yet availed yourself of this gustatory grandeur, it's time. The meatloaf is tender, tasty and juicy. The ketchup is a tad sweet for me, so I told you so, but otherwise perfect, and that's just my preference. My friend likes hers just so. The green beans were cooked down just like my momma made 'em, with some meat for flavor. Nom. Broccoli casserole is good... I guess I said that coz by the time I got to it I was integrated with the cornbread. Sweet and almost creamy. Perfect, fluffy, not too thick consistency. Not too sweet and fluffy like cake, not dry, thick and unsweet. Ummmmm. I cheated, I added a dollop of real butter. My friend got chicken, black eyed peas and mac n cheese. She can leave her own review. Some things like the chicken were cooked to order so it took a few minutes to prepare. The place is clean and bright inside and smells wonderful. This isn't fast food and it tastes far superior. It was a delight to meet the proprietor, I believe he said his name was Johnny. I will definitely be back to try some different things. Everything on my end was delicious. So seriously, go check this place out It's really good. Tell him the Groovenator sent you.
