It was my first visit so I asked a few questions about the ordering process since no one behind the counter acknowledged my presence. I’m sure it’s a Maine thing. Folks up here aren’t pushy about stuff. I like that but I’m still getting used to it after working here a few years. At least no one in there was screaming hello when I walked in or trying to sell me a case of Red Bull & cartons of Marlboros or get me to apply for the station credit card. Extensive menu. There are many different burgers, sandwiches, seafood & chicken options available. I ordered a fried shrimp basket at the cash register, which isn’t near a menu board. I like to see the options when I’m ordering. Maybe I’m weird that way. Seafood is sold at Market Price. Ask if you want to know it. The $17 shrimp basket was massive, with fries, slaw, tartar sauce, a roll & a pickle. Shrimp were small, breaded and frozen in some other zip code I’m sure. Probably 50’s or a little smaller. You can rarely buy Maine shrimp. I think catching them is illegal most of the year and has been that way for a long time. Pretty good for a gas station seafood basket. Ask for cocktail sauce if you’re not into tartar sauce. I think I’ll get scallops next time, maybe the haddock basket. Don’t park out back, where the view of the countryside is amazing. You can see for a good ways, over the rolling green topography of summertime Maine. It’s employee parking only and I was asked to move by some lady. Don’t park near the vacuum cleaner. I was asked to move. That was my bad. I thought about cleaning my car out, changed my mind but forgot to move until somebody came along needing the machine.
Is a shame that they don't have more than 7 parking spots available for trucks. Food is excellent, friendly personnel and great variety of drinks and snacks.
Very friendly people. The food is fairly cheap and tastes amazing. A good little truck stop diner to eat. The people know everyone around here so it's a cozy welcoming environment. Lots of fishing around the area too
We really like this place. The food is great and if you are traveling with a rig or large RV, it is the best place between Waldoboro Irving and Rockland, north on Route 1, to stop for fuel. (if you miss Waldoboro Irving or if is really busy)
Coming from a local, this gas station is easily the best one in Knox County for a car driver, I can't speak for trucks. This is a very easy in and out spot as well as a good location to get gas on route one. The gas station is very clean and organized as well has a good stock of items. They have all the basic gas station foods you can get almost any gas station but they also offer tons of hard alcohol as well as beer. They also have a pretty decent spot to eat lunch at inside as well. The food has never disappointed and is actually a spot I would come out of my way to get food at. The tenders are some of the fresher tenders in the area with a variety of sauces. They also offer other take out food as well as meals you can eat in what you could call their dining area. Prices have always been good. Andes used to be a small gas station that was kind of crummy to look at but offered good food. Now it is a brand New Shell that offers great food as well as great presentation. The customer service has never disappointed and has always been great with me. The managers can order stuff too if you are looking for a certain item (this is more towards the alcohol section but is not limited to just that). If you ever see the managers please say high because they are some of the friendliest people in the area. There is also a bottle redemption area as well that got redone that looks really good too. Overall, this is a great place and I can easily call it one of the best gas station in Knox County and could argue in Maine.
This is a super convenient place. Situated on Rte 1, it's a convenient refueling stop for travelers. For locals, it's a favorite for the take-out counter and convenience store. You can order breakfast, lunch, dinner. Fried seafood baskets, subs, pizza, and more!
Prices on the higher side but good convenience store and good service.
Everyone there is always so friendly. They truly have such a variety and I stop there weekly.
