Friday night ribs were AWESOME. But please advise patrons that you're going to charge a 4% credit card fee IN ADVANCE. Handing me my card back and saying thank you doesn't fly with me when I carry cash on me as well. That practice is the best way to find out I won't be back.

Very good food in a small town. Very friendly there. Definitely a good place to stop and eat.

I'm not sure what took us so long to try this place out. I had heard it was good, but I would have to upgrade that to outstanding. The food was prepared to perfection. My Philly sandwich and coleslaw (with a hint of horseradish?) was the best I've ever eaten. My wife had the hand-breaded chicken strips, mac and cheese and baked beans (sweetened with molasses, maybe). All were delicious. The prices were even more surprising. Dinner for 2 with drinks for about $25. We even left with leftovers for another meal. This place is worth the drive. Our only regret is that we didn't add the homemade onion rings to our order. Next time!

Baxter's is a wonderful place to eat. Be warned - you will not go away hungry. My husband & I ordered the onion rings. Wow! So good. They were hot out of the fryer. Crispy but not greasy. My husband ordered the smoked pork chop. He loved it. Full of flavor. I ordered the Philly cheese steak. It was big enough for two. But oh so good. Very cheese & loaded with peppers & beef. Yes we took food home ;)

Baxter’s is a restaurant in small town Fremont, Iowa. My husband and I popped in for dinner to support the business that is in my hometown. The server is an elderly woman who appears to be tasked with answering the phone, taking orders, delivering orders and cashing people out. There was another younger girl who gave us menus and got our drinks, but she definitely seemed to be under utilized. It took a hot minute before we placed our order. Both ladies were very friendly. It was Taco Wednesday, so I ordered then taco basket which consisted of 3 tacos (I got soft shell) for $6. For that price, I assumed they would be small. They were not. I also got a side of refried beans for $1.50 which came with melted cheese. I was only able to eat 1 1/2 tacos and not all beans. My husband ordered fried shrimp plus a side of macaroni and cheese plus mozzarella sticks. He got cherry cheesecake to take home. Everything came out hot and fresh. My tacos and beans were very good, and my husband said his meal was good as well. Will definitely return, but if I was in a hurry I would avoid peak lunch or dinner times. Great prices and good food.

Bring your appetite! The onion rings are great and they serve it on a large plate. I had the tenderloin sandwich which was great. My wife had the tenderloin salad and she loved it. It was big enough to share for sure too.

Delicious Food, But Service Could Be Quicker I recently visited Baxers Restaurant and was really impressed with the quality of the foodeverything we ordered was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in their craft. However, the service was noticeably slow. It took quite a while to get our drinks and even longer for the main course to arrive. The staff were friendly, just not very prompt. Also, the prices felt a tad high for the portion sizes and overall experience. Not outrageous, but something to keep in mind if you're dining on a budget. Overall, Baxers is worth a visit for the food alone, especially if you're not in a rush. With a little improvement in service speed, it could easily be a five-star spot.
