I have stopped by today and found that they were open on July 4th, so I ordered their special of the day, sweet and sour pork, for $16.50 and found it tasted good. The cook and the cashier were very helpful and friendly and the place was kept clean. It still had the vintage look.
Long time since I visited this place… I missed their Mix Plate with salads! It was a bit after lunch time, so I didn’t wait for long to be served. My mixed plate was chicken katsu and mochiko chicken. My friend got beef cutlet and roast pork Mixed Plate. Both is us thoroughly enjoyed our lunch plate! Asian salad was just right flavor with sesame oil and fried wanton. A little extra was chow fun under the meat. And the price was really reasonable here!! ($15 each). Parking lot is just next to the restaurant, very convenient. It was really satisfied day for me.
A Honolulu classic. Love the chowfun addition to their plates.
5.29.21 Saturday evening. I didn't take any menu pics, because I wasn't there long enough. I called and ordered a chicken katsu plate. I called to place my order, because I ordered pigs feet soup from another restaurant right before I called Grace's Inn. I asked how long, so I could make my way over. The woman on the phone said three minutes. I said to myself, wow that's fast. It took me about 5 minutes to get to location. I walked into restaurant and there were two people in front of me. I got the good ol local plate lunch feel like you get at some of the other older traditional plate lunch restaurants in town. In about a minute I told wo.an I had a pick up. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. She rung me up and I was out of there, and on my way to pick up my dad's pigs feet soup order. Food was plentiful and tasty, just like I expected. Go try it.
Wonderful eatery with delicious comfort food at reasonable prices. Most enjoy their chicken katsu, pork cutlet and sweet sour pork with gravy all over. Yummmm!
They are closed Wednesday now. Friday Loco Moco special $10.47. Regular loco Moco $13. Noticed only 1 hamburger patty now.
A drive in located on Beretania near Times Supermarket. This drive in has been around for a long time. It is a simple place with adequate seating. The people are friendly. The menu includes local plate lunches like Loco Moco, Chicken Katsu, and others. A good place to eat when looking for a quick meal.
I'll drive from Mililani to grab a plate every once in a while and more often grab lunch during work days here. The food (and memories) are that good. It's a Good old fashioned plate lunch. Price has gone up since my college days (what hasn't in 25 years) but food is still just as good and plentiful. In college, this used to be the "treat yourself when you're starving" place to go. You always got enough "Ono" food to satisfy the college boy bottomless hunger. Now that I can afford it, the food is still great but it's now TWO meals for me. I was very sad when the original Moiliili, then the Aiea branches closed down. I'll keep patronizing this place because it's that good.
