Kevin is great and is always a pleasure to talk to! Definitely my favorite place to get a cheesesteak from on campus.

I can't believe I am the first to review Horne's. All of his food is good, but what he does best are cheesesteaks. My wife and I have eaten at pretty much every cheesesteak joint in Philly. Dalessandros? Good to great. Johnny's Hots, also good to great. Pat's and Jim's? Meh, overrated. The list goes on. Beyond a shadow of a doubt, the best cheesesteak in Philly is from the beat up, silver spray painted truck tucked in at the end of Ludlow street on Drexel's campus. For starters, they're about 8 bucks, not bad for a good steak. The owner slaps down a 1/2" thick slab of steak on the griddle and chops onions while it sizzles away, then adds the onions to the top and let's it all sear for a while. Yes, I have watched this many times. He chops the meat and onions together, adds salt and pepper then let's the whole mass brown. He puts the cheese on top then tops it all off with chewy, crusty roll along with your additions of choice. By the time the sandwich gets to your hands it is a delicious, foil wrapped feast of melty, chewy, crusty, tangy goodness. So in the parlance of my brethren, screw all of them other places, you want a steak? Visit Horne's. My go to order is a cheesesteak with extra fried onions and fried hot peppers. Call before you visit, he is generally open from 11 to 5 M-F.

Amazing food and an amazingly sweet man behind the truck. Everything I purchased from Horne’s was excellent. He has one of the best cheesesteaks I’ve had!

Best cheesesteak in PHL, and yes I have been to Pat’s and Gino’s. Not that there’s anything wrong with those two staples. But Hornes has a bigger sandwich for $10, then Pat’s for $14. Just to give you a comparison. I was passing through the 30th street station where saying there are limited food options is a vast understatement. I walked the 2 blocks (93 degrees) to Hornes and it was well worth it. The proprietor Kevin is a very nice man and now I’m feeling bad that I only tipped him $3. I’ll be back, next time with friends.
