We were walking through the north end trying to find a spot for a late lunch and were kind of on the lookout for something homey feeling. Nothing too big or crazy, but cozy and welcoming. We initially walked by when I peaked in and saw some tables filled and decided let’s try this spot. We were immediately welcomed by who we assume is the owner. He was extremely friendly and throughout our experience cracked jokes with us. He gave us lovely recommendations and kind service throughout our meal. We tried the espresso martini and the peanut butter martini. Both creamy and delicious! They give you that delicious herb and evoo dip with bread which is one of my favorite parts about dining at Italian restaurants. And it was great by the way! Let’s talk food! 10/10! The fried calamari was so crisp and tender! Like one of the best fry’s I’ve had on a calamari in a while! We ordered the side of meatballs and I was very close to drinking the marinara it came in. We also did the lobster ravioli in the pesto cream sauce. It was fresh and light, which is what I really enjoyed about our meal. It didn’t feel heavy but it was filling! And of course we ended the meal with the BEST cannoli! Again, not too heavy, it was lighter and I really enjoyed it! We’re looking forward to returning in the very near future!
My daughter and I were visiting Boston for her volleyball tournament and we try to hit a truly Italian restaurant when we travel. Filippo was perfect! The service was great, atmosphere was Italian and the food was delicious. Christian took really good care of us. Hope to be back with the rest of our family!
Filippo Ristorante & Bar in Boston’s North End was the perfect place to bring out-of-state visitors for a true Italian cuisine experience. With authentic decor, fantastic meals, and festive atmosphere, we all came away truly impressed. Dinner got underway with delicious bread and oil, along with tasty and effective Sangrias. For the main, I went with Pollo Lucia while the others enjoyed Pollo Parmigiana and Lobster Ravioli Cinque Terra. Mamma Mia! Everything was prepared to perfection. Highly recommended.
We stopped in for a mid afternoon lunch before driving our son to the airport so he could catch a flight home after visting us for the holidays. The food was excellent! All cooked to perfection. Fried Mozzarella with Prosciutto and an Eggplant appetizer were so good as starters. I ordered the chicken with penne, again all cooked to perfection and delicious. Cristiano (sp?) our waiter was awesome. Very personable and attentive and a great sense of humor. Great ambiance, great food. Highly recommend!
My boyfriend and I were walking in the area, saw this restaurant and decided to stop by. We are so happy we did! The service was top notch, the food was delicious and the restaurant itself was cosy and authentic. Christian recommended the lasagna and I typically do not eat this but I decided to try… truly delicious!! Definitely left with full bellies.
Went here in July on a road trip. Such a welcoming yet unpretentious location! The waitstaff are so hospitable and will go out of their way to show you your way around the menu. Not to mention that many of them speak Italian too, so you know this place is legit. I got the pollo zingarella (stuffed chicken), which was so good, and they also gave me a free pizzella cookie at the end, which made it so much better. 10/10 would recommend!
Christian the host and Marisol my server made me feel welcome with excellent conversations and service. Authentic Italian food was off the chart delicious . Actually a 10 star rating. Anyone traveling to Boston must try Filippos. Service was completely on point.
Amazing cozy little restaurant with so many fun stuff! Loved the environment, the experience I have was super good. The food is rich with favor, and their bread with oil is tasty. They got little waffle cookie desert after meal is perfect little dessert The waitress Chris is fun and got a great humor. Definitely made my trip deserved
