El Apapacho is so good that I ate there twice in one day! I had grilled chicken with zucchini for lunch (delicious!) and returned to have beef stew with black beans and rice for dinner. The stew was outstanding, with a savory broth that was very tasty. It was served with warm blue corn tortillas. The tequila margaritas- very good. As a woman traveling alone, I appreciate how the servers looked out for me while I waited for my Uber. I can’t say enough good things about this place. They play cool music, have a ton of interesting books for sale, and the atmosphere is artistic and bohemian.
Fantastic, fresh, and authentic Mexican food in a lovely atmosphere with plenty of wall art. Had the enchiladas with pollo asada, the guacamole, and the flan. All were really really flavorful. Also ordered two different types of lemonade (don’t skip the lemonade!) and some mezcal drinks. It’s a bit of a walk from the center of town but absolutely worth it. The staff here is lovely also!
El Apapacho continues to be one of our "go-to" spots. Even though we try our best to order something different each time, our all-time favorite is the Cazuela de Res del Estado de Mexico. On this trip, we were fortunate enough to be in time for the seasonal Chiles en Nogada (WOW!) AND our favorite dish. Just had to share the before and after photos . . . not a single drop left on the plates! The next week we brought our tour group so they could enjoy the delights of Yucatecan food "hecho con amor!"
It was a great romantic spot. The Mole Pipian was delicious. I don’t generally like onions on my mole but it was so good that it covered the taste of them. We also had the guacamole with chips and it was smooth and quite tasty. Highly recommend this establishment. Thank you, Elizabeth, for your attentive service. You were polite and informative. ¡SUPERFANTAZTIKO!
Amazing food and a feminist bookstore in one. If they have the Chile Relleno on special, get it. It's huge, packed with ingredients, and will ruin the tex mex dish you think is good. Very attentive service. They get by with English. The front is a bar, the back is a patio under a thick foliage. We had five dishes and all were top tier.
Wonderful & delicious restaurant in Mérida! The aguas frescas were refreshing & we appreciated the unique flavors they offered. The seafood tasted very fresh, we ordered the Pacifico which was a tasty guacamole and side of marinated shrimp, the aguachile was phenomenal. I tried the vegan chile enogada, it was also tasty. It’s a uniquely Mexican dish, I was recommended to try these chiles specifically in Mèrida. The outdoor patio is beautifully shaded & they provide bug spray for your comfort. No AC & mosquitos but that’s not a complaint, it just is what it is, sometimes you’ve just got to embrace the natural atmosphere of a place! Highly recommend for their fresh seafood, tasty food & enjoyable patio.
What a gem of a find in Mérida! The mole is to die for! We only spent two days in Mérida and ate there twice. Lovely garden, lots of vegetarian options. A bonus is the amazing bookstore above the space! Highest recommendation!
Loved this place so much we dined 2 times in our 1 week stay in the area. It truly is a hidden oasis in the back of a lovely bookstore. We dined at night and the courtyard was cool and nicely decorated. Their mole is the best we had in Merida, such rich flavors. It's a small place with a smal kitchen so sit back and relax while you wait, it's worth it.
