I have eaten there many times. Everything delicious always. I have never had a hamburger there and I have to say for $5.19 a large hamburger with double meat patties is a steal. I sure wish I lived closer cause I would eat that more often. I don't normally eat beef unless it's a certain kind but this was a very good burger Their rice dressing is great and fried chicken great as well. Their gumbo is good as well. Give them a try you should have no regrets.
There's something special about an eatery serving food that tastes like it's from your own kitchen. The chicken, red beans, rice dressing, and shrimp served hot and tasty just blew us away. We can't wait to drop in again. The hospitable, patient staff is also a big plus. Thanks Mama's. We will be back, even though it's a 40-minute drive
This is an Opelousas icon! The fried chicken , Shrimp Po’Boy, and red beans and rice and fresh homemade biscuit are amazing! Generous portions, fair prices, friendly and attentive service, and made with love! You have to eat here!
Greatest “fast food” fried chicken in Louisiana!
We just stopped here having never been while driving from Dallas to NO. SO HAPPY WE STOPPED!!! The shrimp was perfectly fried, the chicken was juicy and so flavorful, all with a slight kick. The ladies were friendly and helped me decide on the mashed potato fried shrimp bowl. OH. MY. Thank you for a wonderful option to the regular fast food stops on a road trip. Mm!
Last night was me and my family first time trying mamas and it was good we had the fried fish, fries, rolls, chicken (8pc dark), Mac n cheese, mashed potato, and 3 chocolate chip cookies. I love that they have a variety of different kinds of foods!!! I will most definitely be going back I rate them a 11/10
I've eaten fried chicken all over the world from New Zealand to The Caribbean & from the East to West Coast & let me tell you nothing beats their Biscuits & Fried . But if you really want a great meal I highly recommend A small liver& Gizzards mix with rice Dressing it comes with a biscuit and that it's self is enough for a meal never mind the rest. Now. If you are not a fan of organ meats trust me one bite & that's all you're ever going to want. I've been eating at Mom's since 1983!! & I hope to still be eating for the next 30 or so years.
We stopped for dinner after a long RV travel day that involved a flat tire. Not fun. Hubby suggested Popeyes, being in Louisiana. I decided to check Google for another option and I am so glad I did! The employees are friendly and respectful. The building is well lit, clean and has a lot of parking. But the food is freaking off the chart! I started with a small bowl of gumbo because, why not? I’m a gumbo snob and it was perfection. The okra was fried and seasoned just right. We ate them all! The chicken is large, meaty, crispy and seasoned so well, but not greasy! And then there’s the biscuits. I’m pretty I’ve never felt the need to take a picture of a BISCUIT but that’s exactly what happened. I hope you can see the flaking, dense, buttery sensation that they’ve created! We took a dozen to-go for our RV trip. Now, when we are visiting family in Baton Rouge, from Dallas, we will be making a point to stop here for a meal. Hubby and I both made a point to share how wonderful it was with the counter staff. I’m not sure reviews even do it justice. You’ve simply got to try it for yourself!
