Everything about this restaurant was exceptional — the food, the service, and the atmosphere were all top notch. We dined as a group of seven, and every single person in our party was raving about their meal. It’s a classic French dining experience where every detail is cared for. The dishes were not only delicious but clearly prepared with love and passion. The staff truly take pride in what they do, creating a warm, welcoming, and memorable experience from start to finish. Highly recommend! Sadly I didn’t capture this amazing experience with photos.
My husband and I had the pleasure of dinning in at this amazing restaurant tonight. The food, service and atmosphere were top notch. I had the best experience in a restaurant in a while and couldn’t stop smiling. Everything was exceptional! The owner was amazing and made me feel at home with the conversations we had. If you’re looking for delicious 5 star food I’d recommend this restaurant hands down. Remember to order dessert as well after eating. You will not be disappointed at all.
I was just wandering around the neighborhood and discovered this hidden gem of restaurant. This was by far one of the best meals and dining experiences I’ve had in Montreal. The meal started off with delicious warm complementary bread and bruschetta, followed by the French onion soup and Salade L’Autre Saison appetizers which were delicious and very generously portioned. The salad was put together impeccably, topped with a large block of brie that was fresh and savory. The French onion soup was the best I’ve had in this city. Our main meals consisted of steak and the poached salmon in white mushroom sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly, extremely tender and whose flavor was enhanced by the bold red wine sauce. The salmon was cooked beautifully and paired nicely with the glass of Pinot Noir recommended by the owner. The warm apple tart a la mode recommended by the owner was the perfect ending to this amazing meal. For those that have an interest in ambience, be prepared to enter a classic, romantic French townhome. With an unbelievable array of collectibles, including artwork and violins, you very well might be in Louis the XIV’s Palace of Versailles. There’s a reason why the owner / chef duo have been in business for 50 years: delectable food in a gorgeous Parisian style townhouse served by gracious staff that all take pride in what they’ve built. I’ll be back here multiple times on all my visits to Montreal.
This is a smaller family owned French restaurant right downtown. We first saw this place walking home from another dinner and the owner was out front and chatted with us and told us he had been in business for 49 years. So we thought that we would give it a try during our stay. The owner himself and one other person were serving. We were first served individual rolls and bruschetta. Both were delicious. Amongst the five of us, our appetizers included the escargot in puff pastry, which was an amazingly delicious rich appetizer. I would've been satisfied to stop there. I did not. A couple of people had the French onion soup, which was apparently rich and very delicious. Our mains included my short ribs, which were served with a couple of spears of perfectly cooked asparagus and piped mashed potatoes. Other diners in my group had Rack of Lamb Provençale, fillet mignon, fillet mignon with pepper sauce, and Entrecôte sauce Bordelaise. They were all excellent. For dessert, the five of us shared two desserts…One was their chocolate crème brûlée…It was just OK. And a small apple dessert with some vanilla ice cream. That was good. Their wine list was quite extensive and expensive lol. The chef did come out at the end of the evening when we were leaving and asked us how we enjoyed our meals. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
We were so fortunate to have dined at L'Autre Saison, while visiting Montreal. 6++ out of 5! If you crave great classic French cuisine, with a great feel at home but high end meal service, you will utterly enjoy this gem. The experience starts with the owner, who along with his partner/head chef, has been serving french cuisine excellence for near 50 years. The owner was super friendly and really took the time to walk through their extensive menu. Appetizers: an amazing carrot soup (offered hot) , a beautifully simple avocado shrimp endive salad, and a special offering of oysters (usually only a dinner item) That would have been enough normally for lunch, but treated ourselves (was treated to) superbly made French classics as mains: coq au vin, lamb chops, braised short ribs and scallops in a butter morel sauce. All the dishes were super fresh, and the range of flavor/ presentation to each really showed off the extensive cooking talent of the head chef! Just, WOW!! Just wish we had time for dessert. Next time for sure!!
This place is fantastic! Service was excellent, and every dish was spot on. We shared two orders the escargot and they split it up individually for us. Duck, lamb shank, shrimp and beef rib, all super yummy. Will definitely return next time in Montreal.
I want to thank the owner for such a warm welcome and and amazing dinner. Thank you for the hospitality and conversation. We will be back !
