The location is definitely interesting, with a nice view of the pier and the ocean. Getting a table in the afternoon wasn't much of a problem, even with events happening in the city. However, the service left much to be desired. First, the classic mojito was made with overripe limes — you can see this in the photo — and the taste was sour, so I had to return it. The food took more than 30 minutes to arrive, despite the restaurant not being very busy at the time. Our server didn’t seem very attentive or experienced, which unfortunately impacted the overall experience. As for the food, portion size can be subjective, but in my opinion, it didn’t justify the price. The Boathouse Calamari was disappointing. On a positive note, the flavors of the Coconut Shrimp and Coconut Pacific Cod were quite good. It seems that, like some other restaurants in White Rock, this place relies mostly on day-tourism and may not focus on retaining customers or encouraging Vancouver locals to return. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t come back.
Had a lovely dinner for two at the top floor patio, facing the beautiful ocean view. Service was good, food delicious, and view was spectacular! Ordered fried "Boathouse Calamari" and "Grilled Salmon", plus a "Mango Mojito" cocktail. Highly recommended! Never get tired of White Rock, especially when discovering new places like The Boathouse. Thank you!
The atmosphere really makes up the vibe! Go here if you wanna enjoy a couple of drinks with your friends and family with a fantastic view from the rooftop. The food is alright. A tad bit bland for our palette, but that service was good. We tried the fish and chips, sweet chilli chicken, and lobster bisque.
Had a great lunch on the rooftop patio today. Our server was very friendly and attentive. She even brought me a fleece blanket to keep the breeze off. We really enjoyed our meals. They were tasty but a bit pricy. We had a Stella and a mango mojito. Very tasty drinks.
This is our second time dining in here, and we got so lucky to have Helen as our server again! She is amazing, very friendly, professional and offered excellent service. The food always tastes amazing and delicious. The cocktails are amazing and the atmosphere is ok on the floor that we were at. We’d like to try the patio upstairs next, maybe we’ll get an amazing view. Overall it’s a fabulous place to dine in and we absolutely look forward to our next visit. Hopefully Helen will be our server again!
Fantastic seaside restaurant. Comfortable indoor and outdoor seating, great menu, and friendly service. We tried the mussels, oysters, and ahi tuna tacos. The tacos were my favourite: crisp and light, savory and satisfying. Fantastic on their own. The mussels and oysters were exactly as we hoped they would be. I'd definitely order them again.
Came here and sat at the window , It did not seem that full but servers seemed quite busy to track down. Both of us tried the fish + chips from the lunch menu. They were decent what I expected but not worth it for that price in my opinion, but more worth it for the location and view from inside the restaurant. Might have been better off ordering something different. Inside is a fairly quiet atmosphere but very bright and a good view from every table.
Beautiful view, romantic atmosphere, and excellent service. However, the steak was slightly overcooked, and they forgot the vegetable side that came with my dish. Overall, I definitely recommend this place, very nice service.
The boathouse was great. The fish and chips wasn’t the best recipe for white rock but it was still really good. It averages about 25$ per person for most things for lunch. The server got off to a really slow start which almost led me to leave less stars but once the waitress got to our table, everything went really well. She kept our drinks topped off and was very helpful to ask if we needed anything. The view at the top floor was great. You can see the whole area with nice ocean view. I would definitely go back.
Beautiful views, reasonably fast service, and awesome coconut shrimps and yam fries. I loved our drinks too (apple cooler and The bottom up corona, not on the happy hour menu). Their aioli is super nice and in general I found their sauces are all very tasty. Calamari pieces were a little too tiny though. Regardless, they have one of the nicest rooftop dining locations. They do offer dining room experience too now that the covid restrictions are lifted. Just beware that you have to go up three flights of stairs—not an issue really unless you have a stroller. They are very close to parking, including the new covered parking structure Although you probably shouldn’t mind walking around in White Rock anyways. We were asked if we wanted sun or shade; we said shade but then they said they don’t have full shade, which was a bit strange but fine. When we were seated however, the waitstaff could simply move the umbrella (which was for our table only anyways) two inches so it covers the whole table, which is what we did after 5 minutes anyways. And no, it wasn’t a fire code violation or anything, it was simply a freestanding umbrella.
*Edited two years later* Original review: Great service and portions. The price is right. Updated review: My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here because we both had free credit to use as Landry Club Members. We were promptly greeted by the host and escorted to our table by the window and view of the ocean. Once we settled in our seats, our server, Amanda, introduced herself. She offered us drinks to start. She was great. Attentive, pleasant, and diligent. Everything you could ask for in a server. We ordered calamari to start and we were both blown away by it. The portion was perfect but the flavour is what impressed us. It was a perfect blend of salty, sweet, umami, and spice. They improved it significantly. We then ordered the seafood tower to share. The menu has two options, which really are for either two or four people. The market price was $88 at the time of ordering. It was good! The fish was fresh and the included sauces paired perfectly. The smoked salmon was good, a little bit dry and tough. Perhaps that's the way it's supposed to be as a cold dish? The oyster does purposely come with one empty oyster that's used to hold the horse radish FYI. If you're celebrating your anniversary, make sure you let them know because they'll give you a complimentary piece of cake! It was delicious. Overall, it was a great experience and I would recommend it to my family and friends, especially to couples celebrating their anniversary.
Love the view! Seafood are great too. Please correct me if I am wrong because we were at the roof top and I heard no serving brunch at the rooftop? White Rock you Rock! My 2nd visit was November and Patio upstairs is close. This time we eat for Brunch! Food is amazing.
The food and service was excellent! We got a great table on their rooftop patio and could look out over the ocean. Bravo!
