We were 2 couples visiting the area. Staff at our motel suggested this restaurant and are we ever glad she did. I had the cup of seafood chowder and half a lobster sandwich. So did my sister-in-law.The sandwich was good but the chowder is amazing. My brother-in-law had the big bowl of chowder and devoured it in a minute. My husband really enjoyed his fish and chip. I live in a fishing village. My grandfather was a fisherman. I've eaten seafood chowder my whole life. This was the best chowder I've ever had. So much seafood in it. Well done!! We will be back. Now, every time I order a seafood chowder, we rate it against The Waves chowder as far as taste and value. I can't wait to go back to Nova Scotia and do this all over again.
I’ve had a lot of mac and cheese in my life, but this was hands down the best homemade mac and cheese I’ve ever tasted, its honestly better than fancy restaurants (in my opinion of course!) The service was great and super fast, and I really loved the chill atmosphere in the morning. It’s the perfect spot if you want a relaxed vibe and some incredible comfort food.
Stopped in for lunch. One item was fish and my order was Bacon mac'n'cheese. Food was amazing. Fresh and comforting. Delicious! Prices were a little higher than I'm used to but I think that's just a sign of the times.
This is my favourite restaurant on the South Shore. The food is excellent and homey, and seems closest to real Atlantic Canadian cuisine. It's a relaxed place and the food takes a little time to come out but it's worth it.
I had the clams and haddock combo, and it was fantastic. I think those were the best clams I've ever had. The haddock was a pretty big piece with a hard, crispy, deep fried, greasy batter. That being said, battered and deep fried fish is supposed to be greasy. The fries were a huge surprise. I don't typically enjoy fries, these one came looking a bit pale but turned out to be perfectly, crispy cooked. They were actually the best fries I've ever had served in a fish n chip joint. I am here for four nights and was looking forward to trying four different restaurants, but this was so good, I'm going back to try the scallops. Personally, I highly recommend Waves. In my fish n chip adventures, as a whole, this was the best combo I've ever had.
Update: Stopped in for lunch the next day. Some of the best battered Haddock I've ever eaten with mashed potatoes. Better than Grandmas. Day before......We were disappointed to arrive at supper when online it said it was open. Maybe next time we're passing through.
