I give it five stars because this is a place I grew up going just to buy candy with others as children, but it's a little store owned by an Asian family that sell fast food and other things. Go check them out!
Nostalgia, more than anything else, seems to keep this place alive. I have been visiting there for decades, since early Childhood. Years ago, the early 90s I think, my cousins from California were astounded that the Family that runs the joint speak English with Southern accents. I always thought of it as primarily a neighborhood crocery/convenience store with the customary mercenary, merciless rates for merchandise offered at such establishments. I was surprised to see it listed as a restaurant. I'll have to grab a bite to eat next time I stop by. Should be interesting.
Home style Chinese and American food. Seasoned well . Big portions for a decent price.
Not really my choice on service. Ordered large shrimp fried rice with extra shrimp with sweet and sour sauce, then when I went to pick my order up, no sweet & sour sauce at all, only 2 packets of soy sauce, then when I paid for my order, I was told it would be an extra $1.50 for sweet & sour. Was offered duck sauce instead. Bad service...
I stopped by yesterday and grabbed an overstuffed plate of Combination Fried Rice (no, not Flied Lice) and a chilled Tropical Fantasy Kiwi Strawberry drink. It was good, I'm having the last half of it for lunch today. I do realize though that I should have ordered Combination Lo Mein instead. I may get that next Monday. I'll likely get four eggrolls too. The closing time is listed as 6:00 pm, and the door was locked when I arrived, just after 5:00 pm CDT. Happily, I was spotted, waving at the South end of the front window, and someone came forward immediately to let me in. Nostalgia, indeed! I had no idea this place offered hot meals. I'm glad I went by.
