Love Thai 72 NYC! Such a great spot for friends gathering or after work drinks. The vibes are so good, and the food was amazing — the fried crab rice was packed with flavor, the lamb chop was perfectly cooked, and the duck was on another level. Definitely coming back!
I’m rarely in the UES but we ended up by this area and we were so hungry so we walked in. Came with 2 people on a rainy Monday night. We were seated right away by the couch table. Food was solid, tasty and it was fresh. I had the drunken chicken 10/10. My friend had pineapple rice which was good and tasty. My boyfriend had veggies with chicken and cashew very tasty and juicy. Overall, food was really good. Service on the contrary felt odd and dismissive like if they didn’t want to be there. The ambiance was relaxing and intimate which I really liked. We really loved the food and we want to go back. hopefully next time we will have a better experience. Hands down for the food! Amazing
Craving real Thai flavors? Head to Thai72 on the Upper West Side — where every dish is crafted with premium ingredients and authentic recipes. From flavorful curries to mouthwatering appetizers, each bite is full of rich, aromatic taste. Don’t miss their braised pork curry — tender, savory, and simply unforgettable. Pair your meal with a refreshing cocktail, a cold beer, or a glass of wine.
The food here is pretty good and flavourful. The ambiance is very relaxing and welcoming which makes for an even better experience. I had the pom-tini (I think thats what it's called), chicken pineapple fried rice with the chicken and shrimp dumpling. Lastly, I would give it 5 starts but, I was semi rushed into leaving. I came around 3:30pm on a Fhursday with nobody but myself in the restaurant. You would think the customer service would be better but I guess not.
We tried Thai72 for the first time this week and had a nice meal. They had a cozy atmosphere, with Christmas decor all around. My boyfriend ordered the one of the curries ($18+ for Tofu or Vegetables) and I had the Healthy Soup ($10+ for Small) + Roti Canal ($16+). The Roti Canal felt a bit pricey considering the size / amount, but I loved it and would order it again. The Healthy Soup was also exactly what I wanted with plenty of vegetables, although it too, was a bit pricey for what it was. They could make the small one a bit smaller and less pricey. (The large is $15+) The service was fine and it was a decent meal overall. I’m happy to add Thai72 to my restaurant repertoire in UWS.
Flavorful and aromatic. You can taste the freshness of every ingredient, and the balance of savory, sour, and spice is spot-on. Light, comforting, and deeply satisfying. Easily one of the best red curry and drinks I’ve had.
Love it here! Such great food and friendly service. Highly recommend if you’re looking for Thai food in the UWS.
My two favorite things! Thai food and a good lamb chop! The menu a here is amazing but this one dish really stood out! Thai style lamb chops — Served with lamb jus, Thai basil leaves, chili peppers and a side of mashed potatoes! A perfect concept! Make this spot the next Thai restaurant to add to your list
Lovely thai spot on the upper west. We got the pad see ew, drunken noodles and tom kha soup. Everything was delicious and the perfect amount of spiciness without going overboard. Highly recommend!
Romantic, cute, warm, nice ambience, nice staff, good food. Nice drinks. Gender neutral bathrooms. Easy to remember where it is bc it's on 72nd street and Broadway avenue. Very small bowl of jasmine rice so we had to order an extra bowl which is $3. The food is good but just a bit salty. This is as of 8/11/2025.
The food was amazing, staff were very accommodating, and they currently have Christmas decor up which is cute
Thai 72 is an absolute gem for Thai food lovers! The service was incredibly fast and efficient—my food arrived quickly, and the staff was friendly and attentive the entire time. I started with the coconut soup, which was rich, creamy, and full of comforting flavors. It had the perfect balance of sweetness and savory depth, making it an instant favorite. For my main dish, I had the drunken noodles with tofu, and they were fantastic—bold, spicy, and packed with fresh ingredients that made every bite delicious. To top it all off, I had a lychee Thai iced tea, which was refreshingly sweet and a perfect complement to the meal. Overall, Thai 72 delivered amazing food with excellent service. If you’re looking for a spot with authentic flavors and quick, friendly service, this place is a must-visit!
Ambiance (5/5) - The inside has a lovely décor and it is not too loud inside. Service (4/5) - We were attended to throughout the service. We had no issues with timing of our ordering and dishes. A little difficult getting our checks to pay/leave. Thai Crepe (5/5) - The exterior reminds of a steamed rice roll. After some wresting to pick up (and if not punctured in the attempt), the inside has loose meat filling. It tastes delicious on its own with good flavor and mix of textures. Braised Pork (3/5) - The presentation was gorgeous. The meat however fell flat because it was almost too dry despite the lovely marinated flavors. The dish needed like double the sauce as the curry was only enough to complement a few bites. Drunken Noodles (4/5) - Can't go wrong with the drunken noodles. I think next time I'd go for a little more than medium. Was hoping for a little more in portion. I've ordered their take out before. The massaman curry while tastes good, could be a little thicker.
All the dishes we ordered were really delicious and well prepared. The only downside was the dessert - we ordered their Homemade Coconuts Creme Brulee and it felt like we were eating scrambled eggs. The service was good and everything else about this place was very enjoyable.
Cute Thai spot. I had a solo lunch at Thai 72 and took advantage of their lunch menu. I ordered the beef green curry and I really liked it. Plus the portion was generous. I added the curry puffs to my order and they were sooooo good. Friendly & attentive staff. I’ll definitely stop by again.
This place was delicious! Such a cute place with good food and good service! The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. The food was a good portion and tasty! We definitely loved the spring rolls and the mango sticky rice! Our only complaint is we just wished the spring rolls came with more then just four pieces, but other then that a great experience!
