We got the juicy pork soup dumplings and the spicy beef fried dumplings-- the pork were classic and delicious and the beef were the best we ever had! Perfect on a cold day-- shoulda had a beer to go with them

Dropped in for a quick bite of dumplings on New Years while in Montreal & was pleasantly surprised with the flavour that this spot packed.

Went with my son who’s a dumpling lover. He had pork and vegetable wonton soup and I had shrimp dumplings with peanut sauce as entrees. Then he had beef onion dumplings and I had chicken-onion curry dumplings for main course. The service was quick and we enjoyed our meal.

Mai Xiang Yuan probably has the best dumplings in the world. I’ve tried many dumplings in my life and in Asia, nothing can compare with the dumplings here. If you ever come visit Montreal, you must try the dumplings here in Chinatown

Rehan is Amazing server he helped us choose the right dim sum. We ordered half and half fried and steamed. They were delicious. Must stop at this restaurant if you’re in Chinatown.

While visiting Montreal for just a day, I knew I had to explore Chinatown and enjoy some authentic Chinese cuisine. I came across Mai Xiang Yuan Dumpling, a spot with solid ratings and promising reviews. The moment you step in, it gives off that classic, old-style Chinese restaurant vibe — cozy, unpretentious, and full of character. The staff are warm and welcoming, making the dining experience even better. One thing to note: they only accept cash, so be sure to have some on hand before you go. The food itself is excellent and truly authentic. Their dumplings are packed with flavor and made fresh, and the soup is just as satisfying — comforting, rich, and perfectly balanced. If you’re in Chinatown, Montreal, and want a genuine dumpling experience, Mai Xiang Yuan is well worth a visit. Just remember to bring cash and an appetite.

Mai Xiang Yuan is an absolute gem that delivers an unforgettable culinary experience from start to finish. We began our meal with two refreshing cold starters: the Cucumber Salad and Wood Ear Mushroom Salad—both perfectly seasoned with just the right balance of garlic, vinegar, and sesame oil. Each bite was crisp, clean, and packed with flavour. But the star of the appetizer round was definitely #55: the Cilantro and Black Mushroom Salad. Earthy, aromatic, and beautifully balanced, it offered a unique texture and taste that elevated the entire dining experience For the main event, we shared an order of fried pork and cabbage dumplings—crispy on the outside and juicy within, each dumpling bursting with well-seasoned filling that left us wanting more. The boiled lamb and spring onion dumplings were equally exceptional: tender, comforting, and infused with the subtle sweetness of spring onion that paired beautifully with the richness of the lamb. Everything was made even better with a couple of cold Tsingtao beers to wash it all down. The pairing of the dumplings and Tsingtao was nothing short of perfect—light, refreshing, and incredibly satisfying. Service was prompt, friendly, and welcoming. This is a spot where tradition meets quality, and every dish reflects the care and craft of true culinary artistry. We’ll be back—soon, and often.

Many nasty reviews but reality is that this place offers the best dumplings in China town Montreal. Yes we have a military style service but love this place. Been here many times over the years
