Stopped here after working a tradeshow at the LA Convention Center and it was exactly what I needed. I ordered the fried chicken and waffle sandwich and it was incredible — perfectly crispy chicken with the sweet waffle combo that just works. What really made the place stand out though was the whole experience. The staff were genuinely friendly, the music was great, and the atmosphere was awesome. I especially loved the corrugated steel ceiling — it gave the space a really cool vibe. If you’re near downtown LA or coming from the convention center and craving a real breakfast, this place is absolutely worth the trip.
Great place for chicken and waffles! The waffles were light and fluffy, and the chicken was crispy and juicy. The burger was enough for two! The brioche was nice and crispy, the burger also came with a side of coleslaw and salad. The pulled pork hash had this really cool hashbrown that was shaped like a cube. It was cool though, because the outside was crispy but the inside was soft and fluffy. They were friendly and welcoming, but the place was busy. Overall, would come back to this place!
The building is super cute and the food is phenomenal! We loved the atmosphere too, it's busy but also chill. Great place in downtown! We parked around the corner in a public lot for 5 bucks, only had to walk about a half block.
Nice neighborhood breakfast spot. Service was a little slow but I think that’s because they only had two waiters. Our waitress Kayla was awesome at managing what she could and was very hospitable. The food was pretty good. I thought the crab cake Benedict should have had more crab. All of the other flavors masked the taste of the crab unfortunately. The fries were delicious and so was the fried chicken.
Enjoyed a friend’s birthday brunch at Poppy + Rose! Accommodated a group of 9 (we called ahead). The staff was super friendly & gave us great suggestions. Everyone had something different and everyone loved the food! Would recommend for a Saturday/Sunday brunch with a city stroll to follow (you WILL be full!)
First time here and I am blown away at how good it is!!! I ordered the pulled pork hash and my bf got the chicken sandwich both of which were tender and full of flavor. I will definitely be telling people about this place and will be back!! It is super loud in here but you can still talk.
I got the chicken and waffles and a side of grits. The chicken was very tender and sweet goes great with the fresh crispy fluffy waffles ! I added some butter and salt/pepper to my grits and smothered them over each bite of chicken as i enjoyed life for a cool minute! My girl and I shared this meal she got her own side and we both left full. HIGHLY Recommend!
Was very impressed with Poppy+Rose! The food was phenomenal and the service was great as well. I got the crab and avocado Benedict, which I loved, and my boyfriend was obsessed with his kitchen sink bowl. Thank you for serving great food and having exceptional service on our visit to LA. Will definitely try to make it back here before we leave and recommend it to others.
I have nothing but great things to say about this place! I found it initially searching up brunch spots in LA and loved the options here. The restaurant itself is roomy, cute decor. I liked it had a mix with seafood options as well. The food, let me just say me and my friend loved our meals! I had the Shrimp and Grits and she ordered Crab with Avocado Benedict and had a side of potato salad, which she absolutely loved as well. As a random find this is definitely a great spot for brunch. The server was amazing as well with her suggestions. Wish I can try the other dishes!
Oh yes. My wife and I have passed this place many times when visiting the adjacent Flower market in DTLA - and it was always busy. After we had all our flowery-needs yesterday I asked my wife to Yelp "best breakfast in DTLA" and it popped up - the Poppy & Rose - and we were standing in front of it. I must say two things: I did not find the ambiance too appealing and they you could hear through the open door it was extremely loud. Still, we gave it a try - and I can tell you: it was delicious. Our server - one you would describe as the typical California surfer boy - was extremely charming - so despite the so-so ambiance (the vibe of this place was great though) and the noise we will definitely go again. Would we make a 30+ min detour just to eat here (mandatory in my rating scheme to achieve five out five): again, oh yes!
Poppy + Rose delivered a great experience filled with flavor and culture. The vibe was warm, welcoming, and full of energy. I tried the French toast and the spring grits—both were absolutely amazing! You can tell a lot of love and creativity goes into their dishes. The food was seasoned perfectly and definitely left an impression. If I had to give one suggestion, it would be to streamline the wait or seating process just a bit—it gets busy (which speaks to how good the food is), but a little more efficiency there would take the whole experience to the next level. All in all, this place is a gem. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it if you’re looking for a spot with great food and even better vibes.
We were downtown handling wedding business and our coordinator gave a strong recommendation for this spot. We came in around 1 and it was very crowded but we were seated right away. We should have tried one of the different limeade, strawberryade type of drinks, but next time. I ordered the shrimp and grits and she had the pulled pork hash. The shrimp was grilled and was very flavorful. They were cooked perfectly and very juicy. The grits were the perfect consistency and complimented the shrimp well. It comes with an egg on top and mine was over medium. Now I will say that it's not a Cajun shrimp and grits, this one is mellow, but full of flavor. I'd definitely have it again. Now that pulled pork hash,... Let me start by saying that I really wanted to order a second one to go. The flavor in the meat is very deep. It's absolutely delicious and easily should be the star of the menu. The potato is crisp on the outside and creamy on the inside. Topped with an egg, the trio are a bite that you'll want over and over. It's not a place for quiet conversation as it gets very loud, but who has time to talk when you have all this delicious food in front of you.
This was my favorite restaurant in LA during my four day business trip. I'm.already planning to come back when I'm in town. The place was packed and we had to reserve a wait-list spot upon arrival. They texted us when we were up. The server we had was very nice and helpful. He was kind and went out of his way to serve us well. Excellent vibe and service. The food was very good. I had the chicken waffle sandwich. The breading on the chicken was next level good. The meat was not dry but perfect. This is a good place to grab brunch or breakfast with a friend or a mini date.
Good American comfort food. Decent coffee. Good customer service. Tough metered street parking and paid lots. The loud music and small dining area makes it hard to have a conversation and hear the person you’re dining with. The restaurant shares restrooms with the flower Mart vendors so the hallway to the bathroom smells like fresh flowers . The restrooms are shabby…think public park restrooms..
Oh this place is a sleeper cell!! Delicious. Had the pulled pork hash - GAS!!! Savory in flavor this hit all the right queues. Don’t be afraid to drop in and order, everything we had was fresh and the strawberry lemonade hits too.
This spot is in my top 3 fried chicken and waffle restaurants. Across the street you got the flower shops and the interior is very welcoming. I’ve never had their chicken and waffle in dining, it’s always via delivery or pickup. Even for pick up or delivery their fried chicken and waffle is phenomenal. Solid flavor and crispness along with one of the best waffles I’ve ever tasted. I highly recommend this dish for an entree. I’d definitely come back again and get some of their other menu items. Parking is very limited and the street parking is always busy.
