The BEST American Chinese food in Santa Monica. Love the peking style sauce pork chop. Every menu is good, just have a pick of anything. Staff is very professional yet also very friendly, able to bring up small talk and treat us quickly, unusual treatment for a Chinese place. Although, place is slightly old and parking is strictly valet only, which isn’t free. Street parking is scarce but available.

A very busy Chinese place that is no fuss but good food. Service is a little choppy but it doesn't get more authentic then that.

Hop Li is always 10/10!! So great. We have been going here for years. I went at 12 and placed an order for pickup at 5:45pm and paid ahead in store. When I came later at 5:45 the food was all packaged and ready for me, on time, in a box, and warm and ready to eat! We ordered for a group of 8-10 people. The people working there have been there for a long time so it is nice to see their familiar faces. I also love eating here in person with big group because they have huge tables with a lazy Susan turn table which are great for sharing. The portions are large and everything was delicious. Next time I would have ordered 2 orders of the pan fried dumplings. We also got 2 prepared salad mixes from Trader Joe’s to put on the side as well to add to the meal. I didn’t take a photo of the takeout order but here is a photo from a previous time we were there! This was our order: 3. Chicken pan fried dumpling (6) 11. Moo Shu Pork 39. Sweet and sour chicken 62. Sweet and sour pork 144. Crispy shrimp in spicy salt 172. Hot braised string beans (meatless) 195. Chicken lo mein 213. Shrimp fried rice 219. Steamed white rice

The food was not to our taste. But the dishes were beautifully served. Free street parking on weekends

they make my number one all-time favorite Chinese dish! orange pepper fish it's so damn good I can't believe it. it's just fish and green bean. you get plenty of big chunks of juicy soft fish with slight crispy batter (not heavy you can barely tell it's there but it's there and it is so good). the light battered fish absorbs the crazy good delicious sauce . everything they have is good you can't go wrong but the orange pepper fish is my favorite

Ordered the lobster and it did not disappoint. They brought one out for our inspection before preparing it, the whole nine yards. Free tea and large portions on the other dishes as well. Valet made parking seamless

Short review: We got 3 items ($13 each). We both thought the Chinese food was pretty good. They overcharge for soft drinks ($4.50). Long Review: We got Chicken in Black Bean Sauce, Orange Peel Chicken and King Pao Chicken (Pictures). I enjoyed all the items. The soft drinks were $4.50 each, which in my opinion is overpriced for just a coke. The staff was really friendly and the interior is nice as well.

Great classic style Chinese food. Went here for lunch with a party of 9 and service was quick. My favorite dish so far was the garlic and black pepper fish fillet with string beans. It had a tad bit of spiciness that wasn't too intense

Quiet and pleasant for a nice dinner. Large, round tables available for bigger groups. Not too busy on a Wednesday evening. Comfortable dining.

Really cool vintage style Chinese restaurant. Loved the atmosphere & the orange chicken was probably the best I've had. The service wasn't the best, they had a bit of attitude, but it's not enough for me to stop going. Close enough to visit China town tourist shops. Definitely worth experiencing.
