Waukegan Gyros

We have been coming here for 20 year's,great little spot for meal deals such as: gyros,fries,drink.So many choices if you are in the mood for this type of food!!! They give very generous portions as well! We love Waukegan Gyros!!!

5+ You can sit inside and eat, but there's only a couple of tables. Well, probably 6. Anyway, this is a real throwback. It's like some of the little joints that would. Chicago neighborhoods. Burgers, dogs, Polish, gyros, fish, tacos, and the like! They have salads also. The owner is hilarious behind the counter. The day I was there, he couldn't get a pen to work while taking orders. So I went and grabbed one from the car and told him to keep it, lol! He was very happy. I admire the cooks, it's very cramped, but they turn out some pretty tasty Fare! The Italian beef, excellent. The Philly cheese steak, good, the burgers, they're very customizable and, filling. The fries are decent, really nothing is done poorly. It ain't fancy, and, in today's prices, it's pretty cheap and easy on the wallet. If you're hungry, it gets the job done without a lot of pomp and circumstance. I recommended highly for a quick stop on the way home.

I'm a born and raised Waukeganite and I'm embarrassed to say this was my first time trying Waukegan Gyros... Why did I wait this long??? Only thing I can review so far is the super gyro... It was fantastic... Lots of fresh off the spit meat (honestly enough for 2 people) two super fresh super soft pitsas' the tzatziki sauce was the best I've had since Athens at Lake Hurst... Not much to say about the tomatoes and onions plenty of them and they were fresh... My wife said it was the best she's ever had... I say it's a close 2nd to Athens (she wasn't lucky enough to ever have an Athens gyro) still I give it an 9.2 out of 10...can't wait to go back and try more stuff (chimichanga gyro is next) and at those prices I can't afford not to!!! Oh the fries were good as well!!! But all that yummy food at that price is awesome!!!

Great food. Great prices. My son is a huge gyro fan. After boot camp that's what he wanted to eat. We didn't want your run of the mill chain store. So we did some research and found this little gem. Location was a little tiny bit sketchy. I'm not sure of the area, it just seemed a little bit run down but the food made up for everything. The gentleman running the shop was super polite and kind. We enjoyed every moment of being there. They even have a little outdoor eating area. Refills and drinks are an extra dollar. But the price of the food is so reasonable that that extra dollar doesn't hurt. My family highly recommends this place.

This place is a true hole in the wall. The dining area is small and dirty. It gave me pause wondering how clean the prep area was, but here I am a few weeks later still alive to post this review. Got the gyro and fries. Gyro was great and worth the long wait. Fries weren't though. Thick cut and soggy. If I am in the area again, I would get another gyro.

I don't get here as often as I should but I definitely haven't forgotten about this place. Even though it's only a 12-13 minute drive south of my house in Beach Park, I'm a foodie so I eat all over the Chicago area. To me it's a bit of a hole-in-the-wall and it's been a Waukegan favorite for quite a few years now. Its busiest times are usually during the week during lunch hours. IMHO Waukegan Gyros is the best gyros for the buck. Venue is an old building but it seems to be kept relatively clean and always good service. Food is decent quality but it's the gyros that keep me coming back. This is a rare find to where the pita is toasted on the grill as well so when you're gyros are ready, everything is served hot & fresh. They also have burgers, hot dogs, pizza puffs, tacos and other familiar eats. There are tables for dining in but this place is most notable as a carry out. If you love gyros and have never been here, I recommend Waukegan Gyros!

The cashier was nice and welcoming. They sell 2 Jr. Gyros for only 5.00 perfect for the kids. The Chicago style hotdog is only 2.65 mostly sell it already for 4.00. Food is fresh and tastes good. Recommend for a fast lunch, and its the perfect place to dine in. Inside dine in is also available! and wheelchair accessible.

My new favorite food place in Waukegan. Great burger, great roast beef, great fries. & the service was great. Highly recommend.
