We were staying in Ottawa and decided to come to Gatineau for lunch! Heard this place was the best poutine in Gatineau and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing! Highly recommend. Not to mention, the staff here were SOOO kind!!!! We do not speak French and they were so patient and helpful, holding the door open for us, gave us a free gravy, etc. The service was top notch!!!!
I had this spot saved in my Poutines of Canada Google Maps list forever, and I am really glad I got a chance to check it out. The gravy was a deep brown and extremely flavourful, and the cheese curds were extra squeaky. The shopkeeper suggested that I try it with Montreal style smoked meat and I'm a Schwartz's/Reuben's fiend so I agreed to that almost too quickly. Great poutine, glad to not be disappointed!
Poutine was delicious! They are very generous with the potions. If you are hungry and crave poutine this place is for you. We also ordered cheese burgers but they were a bit dry, the meat was very lean.
Its kind of a raunchy kind of place but the food is pretty good. I don't care for the french fries as they are kind of skinny but they are made fresh daily from fresh potatoes I see them cut. But, the burgers are tasty and so too are the tomato and grill cheese sandwich. I don't like the fact the debt machine 'makes' you pay for a tip, so wrong that is. But, the food is pretty good if you want a decent burger other than what is around in the area which isn't much. (hard to find decent restaurants in gatineau, taxes are too high many go to ottawa)
Presentation was lacking; the pulled pork looked washed or previously frozen & I did not expect this format of smoked meat. Fries were freshly made in fresh oil, generous portions and lots of cheese curds! Where presentation lacked, flavour made up for it. Not the best poutine I've tried in Quebec but delicious nonetheless. 4/5 stars. Would likely return
I'm mainly posting this review to let this owners know my experience of trying to get to try this place. I planned a trip to the Ottawa/Gatineau area with this being one of the main stops to try authentic Quebec poutine. On new years eve, I called a couple times while they were still open and nobody picked up to make sure they're open on new years day like most eateries on the Ontario side. On new years day I called again to see if they're open as I wanted to come from south Ottawa to this place. So we ventured here just in case before our long drive back to Southern Ontario only to find them closed. Someone could've answered the phone when they were open to let me know they're closed on new years day or even a courtesy message to those who aren't familiar with their new years hours. I don't want to giveth a 1 dtar but want to still let them know the disappointment especially those coming from far.
Poutine of my dreams. Perfect amount of everything, crunchy fries, loved it. The lady working the cash was also super nice, we almost ordered a familial for 2 people and she recommended we get a grande instead (and it was the right call), so big thank you to her. The hot dog was also good, but I'd go back for the poutine :)
