Booked this pub for Sunday lunch -it was about 1hour drive from North London where we live. Got the last place in the car park at 12.05 !! I had booked on line so I gave our name in when we arrived at the door and was told we had to vacate our table by 2pm!! Anyway, we were shown to a nice table for 2 Ben our waiter was incredibly attentive and the waitress who served our food was very friendly and served with a smile. We were amazed by the quality(and quantity) of the beef -sourced locally-we asked for it rare and that’s exactly how it came Great home cooked Yorkshire pudding and really fresh veg. We both had terrine for the starters it came with a small slice of warm bread and a dollop of piccalilli which was delicious too. Had Portuguese red wine great at £26 a bottle This pub really knows how to cook a Sunday roast and how to keep the customers satisfied. Well done -we will be back
With the good food you would expect from a Chestnut group pub, this place did not disappoint. The roasts are great, and the a la carte menu well put together. It would be good to have some more exciting guest ales on rotation, but otherwise, an overall good place to eat out. The atmosphere in the converted barn can be quiet on occasion, although the main pub area is bustling.
Fantastic old pub. Beautiful decor and great atmosphere. The Gluten free Fish and chips was sensational. Special thanks to Ollie B for being a great host.
Get together for a friends birthday. Fantastic service from Ben. Food was amazing. I’ll be back soon with family.
Popped in with our two fur babies on New year's day it was very busy but the service was very quick and welcoming.
What a beautiful place to eat. Nice and peaceful, delicious food and such friendly staff. There's no rush to get you out the door, which is a refreshing change to many establishments nowadays. Bella was brilliant and looked after us so well all evening (thank you!). She was patient and friendly, and made sure that our friend was well cared for and able to eat safely with specific dietary requirements. What a wonderful example of caring for customers Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a special night out with friends or family.
Service was very attentive from Ollie and Rowan with good knowledge of the menu. The food was perfectly cooked and well presented and portion sizes are generous. The chocolate tart was delicious, we had the local Saffron Walden vanilla ice cream which complemented the rich, decadent tart perfectly. We will be back!
